the skills and knowledge to support your child grow and achieve their goals. Whether it's learning to write, making new friends, or mastering fine motor skills, we are equipped to assess, analyse, and develop individualised plans to support your child in reaching their goals.

Our Team

Taylor Crockett

Founder, Director & Occupational Therapist

Taylor is the lead Occupational Therapist and Owner of Bright Bugs Therapy. She founded the service in 2022 with the vision of creating a quality-driven, family-centred therapy option for families in the Toowoomba region.

Taylor graduated from Griffith University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and completed a Graduate Certificate in Autism Studies in 2024. She has also pursued additional training, including the Cognitive Orientation to Daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) approach and the Zones of Regulation program.​

Taylor has worked with children with a range of conditions, who are all unique in their interests, goals, preferences and needs. She has a strong background and a wealth of clinical experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Global Developmental Delay (GDD), and Anxiety. 

Taylor has a passion for helping children achieve meaningful goals. She believes that building a fun, safe and trusting therapeutic relationship with each child is the first step toward clinical success. Her approach is neuro-affirming, person-centered, strengths-based, and collaborative, ensuring that both children and families feel understood, supported, and empowered. Taylor tailors therapy to align with each child’s individual interests and developmental needs, using evidence-based interventions to help them develop the skills they need to thrive in everyday life.

 

Taylor provides practical support to children and their families in their natural environments, facilitating their development in a range of areas such as: motor skills, handwriting, executive functioning, sensory and emotional regulation, social & play skills, school participation, and self-care.

 

Taylor is committed to providing compassionate, individualised care that empowers children to develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive.

self care

Self Care

Occupational Therapy can support the development of you child's self-care skills. Self-care occupations commonly addressed in therapy include dressing, toileting, feeding and eating, sleep, mealtimes, daily routines, and grooming.

Motor Skills and Assistive Technology

Occupational Therapy can develop your child's gross motor, fine motor, and motor planning skills to support their engagement in daily activities. 

Our Occupational Therapists can also trial and prescribe equipment and assitive technology to support your child’s participation in everyday activities.

This may include skills such as sharing & taking turns, developmental play skills, diversifying play, understanding social cues, developing friendships, understanding perspectives, conflict resolution, and problem solving.

Assessments

​Assessments provide a comprehensive understanding of a child’s developmental needs, identify areas of strengths and areas where they may benefit from specialised support. Assessment are also used to inform individualised therapy plans, and monitor progress over time. This helps improve outcomes in academic, social, and daily living activities, promoting independence and quality of life.

Our assessment process takes a holistic approach and may include:

  • Parent and Stakeholder Interviews: To gain valuable insights into your child’s background and daily experiences.

  • Environmental Observations: Understanding how your child interacts and functions in their environment.

  • Direct Engagement: Meeting your child, asking questions, playing, and completing structured tasks together.

  • School Consultations: Collaborating with teachers and staff to understand your child’s performance and challenges in the classroom.

  • Questionnaires and Standardised Assessments: Collecting information through detailed assessments completed by parents, teachers, or other stakeholders.
